Louisville VAMC News - Credit Monitoring and Identity Theft Insurance

If you receive a letter offering free credit monitoring for one year from Privacy Guard, paid by VA, please follow the instructions provided in the letter to sign up. This is a legitimate offer through VA in response to the potential loss of personal data.

Veterans who may have been affected by the Birmingham security breach are being sent letters indicating eligibility for one year of free credit monitoring and identity theft insurance, paid by the VA. The letter comes out of Austin, Texas and is very specific about what veterans need to do to obtain this service for one year at VA's expense. The letter contains a verification number for the free service that veterans must use to get this service and not be held responsible for the enrollment cost. To sign up, go to http://www.identityforce.com/vabir*.

For questions regarding the credit monitoring services, please contact PrivacyGuard by Identity Force by calling the toll-free enrollment number 888-368-0307 between 9:00am and 9:00pm Eastern Time.

For questions regarding the letter, please contact the dedicated call center established by the Birmingham VA by calling toll-free 877-894-2600 from 7:00am to 10:00pm Eastern Time.
