Louisville, KY ~ On Wednesday, October 10th, the Robley Rex Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC); Louisville Metro Government Department of Community Services and Revitalization; The Coalition for the Homeless; and Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs will be hosting “Stand Down/Project Homeless Connect 2012”. The event will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at The Salvation Army (the Old Male High School), 911 S Brook Street. This site is located on the TARC bus route and is conveniently accessible from local homeless facilities.
The 2012 Stand Down/Project Homeless Connect is an ambitious one-day community outreach project where representatives from multiple community service organizations come together in one location to address the collective needs of the homeless during a single visit. Resources available at this one-day event will include: food, clothing, medical evaluations, employment services, housing, social services, and a wide variety of other areas of assistance to the homeless. This event takes place through the work of hundreds of volunteers.
Interviews and photo opportunities will be available the day of the event.
