On Saturday, August 13, 2011, Robley Rex VA Medical Center held an Open House to recognize the fastest growing population of Veterans – women.  Women Veterans entered the medical center to find that the first floor had been transformed to provide an elegant environment in their honor.

Booths were set up to provide valuable information on healthcare and benefits.  Professionals from the medical center were on hand to answer questions about such topics as mental health, nutrition, and women’s health issues.  In addition, representatives from Veterans Benefits Administration Regional Office and the Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs provided information about benefits available to Veterans.

First Lady of Kentucky, Jane Beshear, and Margaret Plattner, Deputy Commissioner for the Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs, stopped in to show their support for Women Veterans.  More than 90 women Veterans attended the event, which included free massages, skin care treatments and refreshments.
