Robley Rex VAMC VA2K Walk – A Huge Success!
The Robley Rex VAMC‘s VA2K Walk was held at all the CBOCs and the main campus on May 16, 2012. The event began weeks before with the VA2K Walk Champions encouraging employees, Veterans and others to walk and donate for homeless veterans.
Under glorious blue skies at the main campus, approximately 50 employees and others met in the Memorial Gardens for fun filled activities. Several staff members initiated a friendly competition among the group by seeing who could complete the 2K in the fastest time. The Canteen Service donated water, apples, and granolas bars for the walkers.
At the CBOCs staff and veterans walked, ran, and rolled during various activities. Kelly Medley, RN, 2K Walk Champion for the Fort Knox CBOC worked tirelessly to get staff, veterans and active military personnel involved in the 2K Walk. On May 18, 2012 Ms. Medley presented the Medical Center with a cardboard check reflecting donations valued at $3250. As a result of everyone’s hard work and generosity of VA employees the medical center donated over $4000 in money and goods to the Homeless Veterans fund.
A huge thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make this a huge success.
