Miss World Visit
On November 12th, Veterans at the Robley Rex VA Medical Center (VAMC) received a visit from a charming young woman, who was simply "out of this world". As her first public appearance since winning the title of "Miss World 2010" on October 30th in China, Miss Mills choose to visit with patients at the Robley Rex VA Medical Center. Miss Mills said she "wanted to do something to recognize and show her appreciation to all the men and women who have served our country". Noting that Veterans Day is nationally recognized on November 11th, Miss Mills wanted to extend the celebration one additional day by scheduling her visit on November 12th. "I knew there would probably be others visiting on Veterans Day, so I wanted to come on a day where there may not have been any special events scheduled. This way, they have two special days to celebrate."
Accompanied by her proud mother and father, Miss Mills made her way through the medical center; thanking Veterans for their service and handing out cards donated by local school groups, posing for pictures and signing autographs. On November 12, 2010, Miss World continued the tradition, upheld daily by our VA staff; that every day is Veterans Day at the Robley Rex VAMC.
