The goal of the Health Promotion Disease Prevention (HPDP) Program is to give you, the Veteran, the tools to make healthy choices as an active member of your health care team.
An all-encompassing culture of health promotion and disease prevention throughout the continuum of care that supports Veterans in achieving optimal health and well-being.
- Advocate for health promotion, disease prevention, and health education
- Advise VHA leadership on evidence-based health promotion and disease prevention policy
- Provide programs, education, resources, coordination, guidance, and oversight for the field to enhance health, well-being, and quality of life for Veterans
HPDP Program Messages and Goals. VHA’s vision is that Veterans will be provided HPDP clinical interventions that are seamlessly integrated across the continuum of their healthcare and are delivered in a variety of modalities tailored to their needs and preferences. VHA clinicians and clinical support staff must value these interventions and incorporate them into each Veteran’s overall plan of care. Evidence-based HPDP services are integrated into clinical care delivery throughout facilities and all affiliated community-based outpatient clinics (CBOCs).
